El curioso fenómeno del caimán de Florida al que le falta una parte clave del cuerpo y aun así sobrevive

El caimán que hace unos meses llamó la atención porque le faltaba toda la mandíbula superior fue nombrado “Jawlene”. De acuerdo con informes de los herpetólogos concentrados en su cuidado, se encuentra en recuperación, pese a que aún está en un período de adaptación en Gatorland, Orlando. En una actualización publicada después del Día de Acción de Gracias, los responsables contaron que el reptil aún tiene algunos gusanos, pero que sigue luchando por una mejoría general. Su historia sorprende por su capacidad de adaptarse aún en tales condiciones.

Acerca de su bienestar, los cuidadores de Jawlene agregaron que ganó poco más de un kilo más. “No sabemos cómo perdió su mandíbula, pudo ser a causa de un recipiente, por culpa de otro animal, muchas cosas pudieron haberle pasado, pero trajeron a Jawlene aquí porque probablemente no hubiera podido sobrevivir por sí mismo”, comentó una empleada del centro animal, en Facebook.

Savannah Boan, trabajadora en Gatorland, señaló que la supervivencia de Jawlene ha sido un “viaje salvaje”, desde su llegada a mediados de septiembre, y mostró cómo es que el grupo de expertos ha logrado que el pequeño caimán mutilado logre comer por sí mismo. En el clip que compartieron en la red social se ve un plato con algunos trozos de carne cruda, como algunos mariscos, res y cerdo.
